Stephen Newbold
Stephen C. Newbold is a 2025 PERC Lone Mountain fellow as well as an associate professor of economics in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming. His research focuses on environmental and natural resource economics, including the benefits and costs of environmental policies and the integration of ecological models with economic analyses. In 2020, Newbold received a $100,000 grant from Resources for the Future to develop an economic model quantifying the value of satellite data in predicting harmful algal blooms in California. He has co-authored studies on the global benefits of maintaining water quality, demonstrating how local efforts can mitigate climate change impacts. Newbold’s work has been published in journals such as Environmental and Resource Economics and the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
