Jorge Ramírez González

Jorge Ramírez González is a marine biologist with a M.Sc. in Sustainable Marine and Coastal Management from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS), Mexico. Presently he is the fisheries program officer at WWF-Galapagos where he focuses on sea cucumbers and spiny lobsters. Prior to joining WWF, Jorge worked in UABCS’s sharks and rays program. He later became the research project coordinator and director of Iemanya Oceanica A.C. in Mexico. Jorge has dedicated all of his professional life to artisanal fisheries management by promoting responsible fishing in coastal communities through participatory research and open communication between stakeholders and community development. Jorge loves his job and the interaction between fishermen and authorities.
