Anita Sundari Akella

Anita Sundari Akella directs her private environmental consulting practice, FLORA International Environmental Consulting. She holds Master’s degrees in International Development Economics and Forest Science, both from Yale University. Anita worked as a natural resource economist for Conservation International, based in Washington D.C., from 1999 through 2004. She served as Senior Economics Advisor to CI’s Latin American field programs from 1999-2001. From 2001-2004, she was Technical Director of CI’s Enforcement Initiative in the CI Center for Conservation and Government. In this capacity, her fieldwork, research and writing focused on the theme of improving enforcement of environmental laws in biodiversity-rich countries. Anita’s experience extends to South America (Brazil in particular), Asia, and is incipient in Africa.
