Brett Howell

Brett W. Howell is a board member and environmental entrepreneur working at the intersection of market-based conservation, governance, and execution. He brings cross-sector experience spanning corporate strategy, sustainability implementation, and conservation finance, with a focus on translating environmental ambition into real-world outcomes.

Brett is a graduate of the Property & Environment Research Center’s Enviropreneur™ Institute, where he completed PERC’s Environmental Markets training and deepened his belief that durable conservation solutions depend on aligned incentives, strong institutions, and disciplined execution. Brett has collaborated with PERC-affiliated partners and conservation practitioners since completing the Enviropreneur™ Institute.

His professional background includes leadership roles in corporate strategy and operational excellence, which led him to found the Howell Conservation Fund (HCF), an operator-builder platform supporting early and first-scale environmental initiatives through governance clarity, catalytic capital, and hands-on execution. Through HCF and prior work, Brett has advanced coral reef restoration, circular economy pilots addressing plastic pollution, bird conservation, and community-based environmental initiatives in the U.S. and internationally.

Outside of his professional work, Brett maintains a deep connection to the natural world. He is a pro-certified SCUBA diver, downhill skier, and whitewater rafter, with extensive time spent in marine and terrestrial ecosystems that continue to inform his approach to practical, systems-oriented conservation.
