Madeline Kass

Professor Kass is a 2024 PERC Lone Mountain Fellow as well as a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Seattle University School of Law. Her academic scholarship focuses on US environmental and natural resources law and comparative EU/US environmental law. She is a Professor Emeritus at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and a frequent visiting professor at other law schools and universities (including at Seattle University, the University of Milan, and California Western School of Law).Prior to entering academia, Professor Kass practiced law for close to a decade in the Seattle offices of Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) and Heller Ehrman. Her practice focused on environmental compliance and land use. She earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Law, and an M.E.S. from Yale University School of the Environment.
