Jake Ketscher

Ketscher grew up in Bettles, Alaska, just south of Gates of the Arctic. His parents ran a bush flying, outfitting, and fur buying business. Ketscher graduated from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks with a B.A. in political science in 1996 and from the University of Wyoming with a J.D. in 1999. He currently works as the assistant public defender in Kodiak, Alaska, where a good portion of his caseload includes fish and game violations and commercial fishing cases. He is active with the Alaska Outdoor Council, the Kodiak Island Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Kodiak Sport Fishing Association. He also works as a freelance political consultant. Ketscher is interested in exploring ways to depoliticize fish management in Alaska.
