Student Summit: A Summer Seminar for College Students

Free Market Environmentalism:
Exploring Nature, Property Rights, and Markets

PERC’s summer student summit brings together a select group of undergraduate and graduate students to explore the intricacies of free market environmentalism.

As a college student, you have immeasurable power to make a difference in the future of conservation. This workshop examines the challenges of environmental problems and how to apply property rights and markets to resolve them. We will look at the tradeoffs between political and free market approaches evaluating the balance of a good rule of law and market function. We will head to the field to look at environmental conservation first hand. Hearing from scholars and practitioners, this workshop will help you put ideas into action.

PERC is dedicated to finding the right mix of participants for this year’s program. We are looking for students from diverse backgrounds and majors (e.g., natural resources, economics, hard sciences, social sciences, journalism, ethics, sustainability, marketing, business, liberal arts, math, engineering) who are critical thinkers with an interest in creating innovative solutions to complex environmental problems.

A limited number of scholarships are available to qualified students who request funding during the application process.
