Shannon Meyer

Shannon Meyer, Western Conservation Manager,Land Trust Alliance. Shannon provides Alliance services to land trusts in the southwestern states, California and Texas. Shannon moved out west after college and spent several years teaching outdoor education in California before heading to Montana for graduate school in Environmental Policy. Since then Shannon has gained over 14 years of experience in private land conservation in Colorado and nationally. She first ran a small nonprofit that advised ranching families on their conservation options and after three years managed the merger of that group with Aspen Valley Land Trust (AVLT). She then acted as Associate Director of AVLT and helped transition their focus to make a broader geographic and conservation impact in western Colorado. In 2008 she left AVLT for a sabbatical that included a stint working on conservation finance deals with Lyme Timber in NH and eight months of travel in Latin America with her family. On returning to Colorado, Shannon started Meyer Conservation Services consulting with land trusts and land owners throughout the west on conservation transactions, capacity building and organizational development. She has been with the Alliance since 2010.
