David Hoffman

David Hoffman is currently developing a company devoted to measuring air quality in the Bozeman and Salt Lake City areas based on a network of optical sensors. He is also an embedded systems and firmware consultant with the Utah Strategic Innovation Group. David holds several degrees from Montana State University in Bozeman, including a doctorate in Electrical Engineering focusing on atmospheric science and remote sensing. His dissertation project involved the design, construction and initial deployment of a high spectral resolution lidar for atmospheric aerosol observation. While attending MSU, David was a NASA Graduate Student Researcher Program fellow, and spent time working on a satellite based lidar instrument at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. In his spare time, David enjoys ski-mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking, and keeping his Subaru running.
