Andrea Foessel

Andrea Foessel is a native of Chile, South America, from a beautiful and pristine region known as Western Patagonia. She grew up working with her family on her father’s beef ranch. In Chile, she earned a B.S in Business and Administration and after which she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to study English as a second language. During this time she met a professor who taught her about the concept of sustainable development, which shaped her thinking for a career path. She completed coursework at the University of Pittsburgh and received a master’s degree in Development Planning and Environmental Sustainability. Andrea joined Canaan Valley Institute in February 2005 as a Watershed Resource Economist. Her work encompasses providing technical assistance to local watershed and community-based initiatives within CVI’s service area so they integrate economics to solve environmental problems and foster sustainable development.
