Henry N. Butler

Henry N. Butler is the Henry G. Manne chair of law and economics, a professor of law, and the executive director of the Law & Economics Center at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. He previously served as the Allison and Dorothy Rouse dean and a George Mason University Foundation professor of law. His research and teachings focus on issues related to antitrust, contracting, health care, corporate governance, consumer protection, banking, insurance, environmental law and policy, and securities regulation. For over 30 years, he has developed and led educational programs that teach the basics of economics, finance, accounting, statistics, and the scientific method to federal and state judges. Dr. Butler is a member of the American Law & Economics Association, the Advisory Board of the Atlantic Legal Foundation, and is an Honorary Member of the American College of Business Court Judges.
