Ketscher grew up in Bettles, Alaska, just south of Gates of the Arctic. His parents ran a bush flying, outfitting, and fur buying business. Ketscher graduated from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks with a B.A.
Walter is a native of Tampa, Florida. He recently graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in sociology and plans to move back to Florida to assume management of his family property, the Thundercloud Ranch.
Carlos is a Spanish native who received his B.S. in zoology from the University Complutense of Madrid. He spent 10 years researching nature conservation, and as a scientific advisor of the Bearded Vulture recovery program at the Pyrenees.
Montague was born in Virginia and raised in Washington state. He received his B.A. in political science from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Montague is a policy analyst for the Washington Policy Center, a state-based free market think tank in Seattle.
McAleese is program director for Sand County Foundation’s Community-Based Conservation Network-North America. Before joining Sand County Foundation, he worked in the supply and transportation sector of the oil industry. McAleese holds a B.S.
Mam is a Cambodian native who received his B.A. in fishery science at the Agriculture Institute in Phnom Penh in 1990 and Master of Marine Management at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1996.
Makeyev is a field biologist for the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County in California. She has been working on a conservation plan for 9,000 acres of coastal dune habitat and is close to finishing her goal.
LeBlanc graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1994 with a B.A. in political science and women’s studies. She received a master’s degree in environmental policy and management from the University of Colorado, and currently works for The Conservation Fund.
Vierling practices as an attorney in Oregon. She graduated from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law.
Jaycocks, a South Carolina native, graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2000 with a B.S. in environmental planning.
Jan is an economist by profession and holds a master’s in mass communication and a law degree.
Hiba is an Argentinean native. He received his B.A. in economics from the University of New York at Potsdam College.
Herron is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He received his B.A. in anthropology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Gardiner has been a manufacturing businessman, a directional drilling engineer in the oil field, a wildlife and watershed field biologist, river conservationist, and political analyst.
Emmett, a Calgarian, recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.A. in international relations.
Cesano, a native of Italy, received his bachelor’s degree from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and his master’s degree and Ph.D. in “Earth and Water Resources” from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Brealey received a B.A. in English from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and went on to be a fly-fishing guide in northern British Columbia and on Vancouver Island.
