As a college student, you have immeasurable power to make a difference in
preserving our natural resources. News and advertisements, for the most part, paint
a dismal picture of the sustainable future of the environment and our natural
resources. Aren't there laws and policies in place that guarantee the sustainability
of wildlife, water, trees, and other resources? If this approach isn't working, what
will? |
PERC is pleased to announce a new co-sponsored program with Liberty Fund, Inc.
for distinguished undergraduate students. PERC will provide a full scholarship to
cover tuition, meals, lodging, and a stipend of $500 for each student's travel expenses. The seminar is limited to 25 students and
the application process is competitive.
The seminar is designed to introduce
students to a property rights and market approach to environmental issues.
An understanding of these approaches will be invaluable to anyone who cares about the environment;
particularly those who
will choose career paths that include environmental law, public policy, economics,
and teaching environmental science.
This seminar begins with an opening dinner on Monday evening and concludes with a
closing dinner Friday evening. The daily schedule consists of two 90-minute
sessions each morning and two 90-minute sessions each afternoon. The seminar
is a combination of lectures and Socratic style discussions of assigned
readings that address specific themes. In addition to the stimulating
academic discussions, students have one free day to enjoy some of the
amenities of Bozeman.

"This program is
incredibly valuable regardless of any pre-conceived ideas of what environmentalism
should look like!"
"Attending this seminar equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to take the
ideas of FME into any company, or organization, or political office that my life may
take me into. It's a wonderful seminar. I encourage anyone interested in either
economics or the environment to take part in it."
