The Benefits of Catch Shares

Friday, November 9, 2012

John Batchelor interviews PERC's Dino Falaschetti about Tackling the Global Fisheries Challenge. He explains why catch shares are good for fish habitat, fishermen, and consumers all over the world.

"The problem is we don't treat fisheries like owners, we're stealing. And if you don't own something, you don't really take care of it in a conservative manner. So, at PERC, what we are trying to do is to create market solutions for those types of environmental problems and encourage people to act more like owners rather than stealers."
